Factiva offers a single point of access with multiple language interfaces and multilingual content covering nearly 9,000 sources, allowing users to conduct in-depth research on news, companies, industries, and regional affairs.

Content is available in audio format and can be translated automatically into other languages.

Note: Some newspapers are listed as being available in Factiva, but due to access restrictions for academic libraries, are not available at UBC Library. These include

  • Baltimore Sun
  • Chicago Tribune
  • Los Angeles Times

To creat a PURL (permanent URL) to an article: You need to use this long URL as a template. Replace [AN Document Number] with the actual document number. No spaces on the URL string!:[AN Document Number]&xsid=S003Wvf3cJ95DEs5DEnMTEqMTapODVyMHmnRsIuMcNG1pRRQUFBQUFBQUFBQUFBQUFBQUFBQUFBQUFBQUFBQUFBQUFBQQAA&cookie=on

The resulting, even longer and % coded URL is the PURL. Note, some articles don't have an AN Document Number if they link to an external Open Access source. In which case, just use the external URL.
